Cairo - Khan el Khalili Market
Copyright 2005 - Dave Hutchinson
Goods and services are sold in the Khan el Khalili Market as they have been for hundreds of years.  It is a fascinating place.  Bargaining is a way of life here.  We like to open the contest at 50% of the offering price.
While we were there a pretty major fire took place as business continued as usual!
The Market is entered through this courtyard containing the Husayn mosque and shops.
Thousands of people shop in the Market daily.  We also went in the evening.  Crowds were less, and the Market was well lit.  We felt save there.
Always make sure that you negotiate a fare with the cab driver before your journey.  Get your cab at a taxi stand or at a hotel where you are less likely to get ripped off.
