The University in Coimbra
The young lady in the center of the photo is a University senior identifed by the black robe
Portugal is quite proud of their universities.  The ancient University at Coimbra is an example.
The bat that are painted on the wall of this nearby building represent the many bats that live in the library of the University.  They are important because they eat the bugs and therefore protect the books.
The University chapel and library areas.  These buildings were among the most ornate architecture that we visited in Portugal.
Elaborate doors and statues surround the patio outside the University.
