India -The Taj Mahal & Agra Fort

The Taj Mahal  was built in the early 17th Century by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.  It is a Unesco World Heritage site and certainly the most visited site in India.
Unless you have visited the Taj Mahal you wouldn't realize that the main building above is only a part of the sprawling 1000 acre property in Agra.  Above (Right and Left)  is a look to the South Gate of the Taj Mahal.
Delicate flower art is on virtually every wall of the Taj Mahal.
These are the walls of Agra Fort..also a Unesco World Heritage site.  The Fort was built and occupied by the Hindi in the 16th Century, even earlier than the Taj Mahal.
Agra Fort sits near the Taj Mahal.  Actually, you can see the Taj from the rear of Agra Fort.  That is where I took the photo of the Taj Mahal from in the top right picture.  The two structures are quite near.
